Gaming Sessions
The University does not allow any games to be played on its machines at any time… except by us!
The Computing Society has exclusive permission from the Department of Computer science to hold gaming sessions on their machines every week. We hold them in CS0.01, it’s the first lab on the left as you walk into Computer Science. Please note, if you are not studying any Computer Science courses, then you will probably not be able to get into DCS with your library card, the easiest way to solve this is to come along to the pre-gaming social that usually occurs, or just waving through the window if you come later (It’s pretty easy to spot us)
Games
Games we play:
- Touhou – we currently have Touhou games 6-11, excluding 10.

Can I play other games not on the list?
Yes, if you’d like to play a game, bring it along and we’ll do our best to install it – there are certain limitations on what the Linux machines we use can run (due to compatibility issues, try investigating if it runs natively or has good support in WINE).
What about the legality of the games?
By playing a game, members are agreeing to a declaration that they own a legal copy of any games they play. This excludes use of games that permit spawn copies to be played, etc.
So when can I play?
The gaming sessions are every Friday evening: feel free to just turn up!
I want to play, but I’m not a member of the Computing Society
To meet the rules we agreed with DCS, only members of the society are permitted to play games at our gaming sessions in DCS. You can, of course, join to get in on the action.
Rules
In negotiating these sessions with DCS the exec agreed to the following rules, which you will be expected to obey at these events:
- No-one to alter any system configurations without approval from the Exec.
- No food, drink or smoking in the room provided.
- Those attending without signing up may be asked to give up their machine to someone who has.
- No loud noise or unruly behaviour, or you may be asked to leave.
